Fortnite’s ‘No Build’ Mode Will Be Permanent, Say Data Miners

epic recently building off in Fortnite’s standard mode, a change explained via a tricky story trailer that ends with a surprise appearance by Doctor Strange. As Jody said at the time, “Video games!” The change was meant to be a temporary novelty, although we anticipated that a no-build mode could become a permanent option if it became popular enough.

So we’re not surprised that a number of dataminers have uncovered evidence that Epic is indeed planning to keep the full-time no-build option. TweaBR said on March 21 that “The LTM ‘No Builds’ that will be available after 8 days will be called ‘Solo—No Build Battle Royale'”. There will also be no-build modes for Duos, Trios, and Squad.

HypeX corroborated the claim a few days later, saying that there are “separate non-build modes that they can activate at any time” after LTM ends, and also that most of the loading screen hints have been changed to say, “In with build enabled.”

We said when no-build mode was announced that removing a core element of the game might seem like a high-stakes move, but Fortnite has thrived for years largely on the strength of reinvention. It’s a battle royale, the same as PUBG, Apex Legends, and Warzone, and yet it’s a completely different kind of experience – one where any number of Marvel superheroes, Olympians, and/or hip hop stars can warp. , rock it, and go your way without anyone raising an eyebrow. Switching it up yet again (ironically, making it more like its genre mates) actually fits very well with the Fortnite formula, and it seems to be going well: before the recent leaks, a lot of people reddit were already expressing hope that some sort of no-build mode would become a permanent part of the game.

I contacted Epic to confirm permanent mode without compilation and will update if I get a response.

Thanks, VGC.
