a short walk was one of PC Gaming Hidden Gems in 2019, a relaxing indie about a bird that will stroll/glide/swim around a beautiful big park to find all sorts of cool and pretty things as they go along. A super smooth exploration adventure game with some puzzles to figure out and all sorts of collectibles to accumulate.
Yes, this may sound like a joke, but it’s not. It lets you see what other players are doing in Hawk Peak. It’s a bit of Dark Souls going on, I think: they’re like ghosts in worlds apart. Island state is not synced between players, so NPCs, items, and others are different on everyone’s screen. Only the players are the same.
It won’t be supported forever as it’s just an experiment on the part of developer Adam Robinson-Yu, so I recommend checking in while it’s available and the servers are up during this limited time. That said, you can host your own server in the future for whatever reason, but it will require some technical knowledge.
You can find A short walk 99 on itch.io, along with instructions on how to install it if you’re using itch, GOG, or Epic. If you’re on Steam, you can use the Betas function to switch to a branch called “ashorthike99_mod”. To do this, right-click on the game, go to “Properties”, click on “Betas” on the right side and use the drop-down menu to select the mod.
